Dr. John Ziegler was an American physician who is best known for his role in the development of anabolic steroids. He was born on November 15, 1920, in New York City and earned a medical degree from the University of Vermont in 1944. He worked as a physician during World War II, serving in the Pacific theater.
In the mid-1950s, Dr. Ziegler began working with bodybuilders to develop a steroid that would enhance their performance. He collaborated with the pharmaceutical company Ciba to create an oral steroid called Dianabol, which quickly became popular among athletes and bodybuilders.
Dr. Ziegler was also a weightlifter, and he served as the coach of the U.S. weightlifting team at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He died on the 14th March 1983 at the age of 62.
